i realized i never actually put any of my toy design stuff online before. guess i’ll start now? this is for my senior thesis. WHICH I AM SO BEHIND ON.
i ripped apart a polly pocket doll to use as the foundation for my model. hahahahahahahaha >.>
disneyfiedme asked: I found your blog through my crazy jealousy of seeing your picture with Glen Keane! You are very talented and as an artist struggling to find her spark again, I am inspired! Toy designers are cool. I want to be one too! How did you get into the industry?
you’re seriously the sweetest! im glad what little stuff i have actually inspired you. i checked out your tumblr too! everything on it makes my heart fly :’)
i never imagined i would become a toy designer. i went to otis college of art and design thinking that i’d go into children’s illustration or animation. but before i finished my first year, each department does a mini presentation for the freshman class before we actually declare our majors. the toy design department DEFINITELY sounded waaay more appealing and suitable towards my attitude and my skill set, so i decided to go for it!
ive been super lucky to be surrounded by great teachers and incredibly talented classmates. since all the top toy companies are local (mattel, hasbro-west, spin master, jakks, disney) there’s lots of internship possibilities too!
hope that answers your question and feel free to ask me anything else!!
